    The Roots Exhibition

We had a wonderful time at The Roots exhibition – the gorgeous aloe artwork by Walworth Academy students was on display, our collected oral histories were shown, booklets on the project were given out – and there was plenty of sarsaparilla, of course!.
Take a look at our lovely photographs from exhibition, and have a closer look here.

    Baldwins, A Family Business

Our final interview comes from the current manager of Baldwins, Steve Dagnell. Steve recalls growing up with the shop, working there with his father and how the business has changed over the years. A fascinating listen!

Thank you Steve and interviewer Irene Payne for this great interview. And thank you to everyone who has taken part in The Roots Oral Histories over the past year, for putting together such an amazing collection of memories and stories.

    And thank you for listening!

We have another oral history to share with you as Brian Frampton recalls growing up in Walworth in the 50s (and his memories of Baldwins too, of course!). A great listen.

    More Chelsea Physic Garden!

Some more photos from our wonderful (if slightly damp!) trip to Chelsea Physic Gardens last year.

    Chelsea Physic Garden

At the end of September, we took a trip to the beautiful Chelsea Physic Garden. London’s oldest botanic garden, Chelsea Physic Garden was founded in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries for the purpose of training apprentices in identifying plants. The day was a great chance to wander through the lovely gardens and have a go at identifying some of the plants ourselves!
